Travel, Accomodation and Local Information

Here we will provide information about travelling to Vienna and to the conference venue, and tips on what can be seen and done in Vienna. Information on accomodation can be found on the registration page.

Coming to Vienna

Vienna's Airport (VIE) is located southeast of the city and is served by all major airlines. All relevant information can be found on their webpage.

For train connections, consult the timetable of the federal railway company (ÖBB). There are direct services to many central european cities.

Upon Arrival

If you participate in the guided city tour:
We meet on Sunday at 13:30 in front of this building (another view), in which the regular program will take place lateron. On this map, the location is marked as "Entrance" in blue.

If you participate in the Welcome Reception:
Also the reception takes place in this building (another view), in which the regular program will take place lateron. After having entered, keep right and move towards the stairs. Climb the stairs (or ride the elevator) one floor up, then turn left (here is what you see then) and enter the first door to your right. Registration will be possible during the welcome reception.

If you come directly to the regular sessions, please go directly to the main conference room, "Prechtlsaal" (note that the system session is at a different location, see below).

Conference Venue

The conference will be held in a building of the Vienna University of Technology. The street address is Karlsplatz 13 in the fourth district. LPNMR'01 will be held in "Prechtlsaal" on the ground floor. The system session is at another location, see below.

We have compiled a list of restaurants, cafes and other places where you can get food near the conference venue.

The main conference venue is located close to the underground station "Karlsplatz", served by lines U1, U2, and U4. From there, you should take the exit "Resselpark". Once you have reached the surface, just walk through the park towards the main entrance of the old university building.

You can also take trams 62, 65, the "Wiener Lokalbahn" (inbound only) or bus 4A to stop "Karlsplatz". From there, just descend a staircase and then follow the directions from the underground exit "Resselpark".

Public transport is very efficient in Vienna, and there are also special priced tickets for tourists. VOR has a searchable timetable (you can search for a connection between stops, addresses, and even landmarks [the latter unfortunately only in German]). Be sure to enter "Wien" as Town, "Vienna" will give strange results.

The system session on Monday evening will be held in the Heinz Zemanek Saal on the ground floor of the building at Favoritenstrasse 11. This map gives you an overviewwhere this is w.r.t. the KI-2001 and LPNMR'01 venue and some of the hotels. It is close to the undergroundstation "Taubstummengasse" of U1 (the red line), take exit "Taubstummengasse" (rear end if you come from the city center). Go up and keep right until you arrive at the escalator. Once you are upstairs, continue on the main street, crossing Taubstummengasse. Enter at the first entrance after the pharmacy (which is on the corner). After having entered, you arrive at a little hall (a concierge is at the right hand side). Cross it and the room where the invited talk and the short presentations are given, will be to your right.
